Don Brown

Don Brown’s fascination with photography began while serving his country just after WWII. He attended the US Navy School of Photography in Pensacola, Florida, eventually spending four years flying aerial mapping missions during the Korean War.
After his tour ended Don found himself in Amarillo, Texas, where he met NHRA legend Wally Parks while Parks was the Editor for Hot Rod magazine. Don worked as a freelance photographer, shooting the drag race scene in and around Texas. This was the early 1950’s and the hot rod scene was just starting to heat up. Brown was there to capture all the action, danger and innovation that soon followed. Brown became a fixture at most of the high profile drag racing events around the country, including the Summer Nationals in Indianapolis and the Winter National is California.
After a stint with Petersen Publishing, Don became the Editor & Associate Publisher of Trailer Life Publishing. There he oversaw the acquisition of several additional publications, including Darkroom photography. Trailer life was eventually sold and Don decided this was the perfect time to start his own photography company. He moved to Agoura Hills, CA and opened a high end collectible and used camera store. After a successful 18-years Don decided the time was right to retire and moved to Vermont, where he lives today.
