Racing’s original “Bad Boy” Curtis Turner’s hard-driving, hard-living lifestyle earned him competitive rivalries on the track and legions of fans off the track. A successful business man and entrepreneur Curtis first conceived and then oversaw the development and building of the Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1960. A fiery competitor Curtis won 17 times during his Cup series and scored 38 wins in the NASCAR Convertible series, including a remarkable 22-wins in 1956. This photo captures Curtis as he puts on his game face and prepares to race in 1966.
